My job has many benefits. One of the greatest "perks" of being a minister was the privilege of baptizing my kids. Rachel got baptized a couple years ago when our church was still meeting at Jackson High School. Elijah got baptized this last June after church one Sunday. Judah got baptized a couple months later at our church's Day at the Lake Event.
Baptism is a significant spiritual mile marker in every Christian's life. It is the moment where you make a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ. As parents, Di and I have tried to be the best example we can to our kids but we ultimately have allowed our kids to discover their faith on their own. Getting baptized was an individual decision for each of them.
I am a happy (and proud) dad.
If you are interested in knowing what baptism symbolizes and means I have provided two links for you. One is a blog written by my associate pastor the other is a message I taught on the subject. Enjoy
